Pakistan beat West Indies in WI for the first time - winning test series 2-1

It was a great day for the visiting Pakistan cricket team to the Caribbean when they beat the hosts by 101 runs on the fifth day of the third test match - thus sealing a historic victory over WI, something not done by Pakistan before.

The third and last test match was also the last test match of Pakistan skipper Misbah ul Haq and batsman Younis Khan, who completed his 10,000 runs during the series.

Roston Chase of the WI was declared man of the match award for his brilliant 155 in the first innings and 101 in the second. Yasir Shah was the luck bowler who took the last WI wicket to finish the series in Pakistan's favour.

Final scores: Pakistan 376 (Azhar 127, Misbah 59, Chase 4-103) and 174 for 8 dec (Yasir 38*, Younis 35, Joseph 3-53) beat West Indies 247 (Chase 69, Abbas 5-46, Yasir 3-126) and 202 (Chase 101*, Yasir 5-92, Hasan 3-33)

Pakistan's Azhar scores three centuries in first Pink Ball test match

What a great day it was for Pakistan when its opener Azhar scored three centuries in the first ever pink-ball played test match at Dubai just now.

Pakistan playing its 400th test match, which is yet another milestone achievement in the cricket of Pakistan, Pakistan also becomes the first country to score a triple century.

Although no sooner did Azhar shot a four at 298 to earn his third century, the captain Misbah declared the innings at 579 for three to let the West Indians to show their muscles with the pink ball.

So well done Azhar  - you really earned laurels from across the globe for hitting tons with the pink ball. Azhar also becomes the fourth Pakistani player to have scored a triple century in a test match. Before him Hanif Muhammad, Inzamam ul Haq and Younis Kjan have held this distinction.

Pakistan white washes 3-ODI series with West Indies

It was yet another repeat performance by the cricket team at Abu Dhabi today when they beat the West Indies consecutively for the third time to white wash the 3 ODI series 3-0.

Pakistan's Babar Azam also hit a consecutive third century today with 117 runs. He also scored centuries in the earlier two ODIs. Pakistan's Azhar also scored a ton (101 runs). This makes him the 8th batsman in the world to do so.

Winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat and gave a target of 309 runs for the West Indies at the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs. However, the entire West Indies team was shown the pavilion in mere 44 overs at 172. They lost by 136 runs.

Babar Azam was declared man of the match award which he rightly deserved. In Babar, Pakistan seems to found a new batsman for its future cricket, replacing old hands.

2nd Test between England - West Indies

The second test match between the West Indies and hosts England commences 25 May at Trent Bridge and will go on till 29th May.

After winning over the Windies, the hosts look much confident to bag the series 3-0. While the visitors, speciall Chanderpaul gave a tough time to England, it is the England's batting depth that may not help the West Indians to look for easy victory in the second or even third test.

Playing at Trent Bridge would be in favour of the hosts as it provides extra support to the swingers. This would add pressure on the weak top order West Indian batting and early fall of major wickets.

England is likely to retain the same squad for the second test, while for West Indies, Gabriel is out for the series. Tino Best flew over from the Caribbean as a replacement but there is a greater likelihood of Ravi Rampaul's inclusion because of his experience.

So let us watch the match at Trent Bridge, which commences 10:00 GMT everyday from 25-29 May.

West Indies vs England: Watch Live First Test (2nd Day of Play) at Lord's

The first day of the First Test between the visiting West Indies cricket team against host England Thursday at Lord's was perhaps a disaster for the visitors. Having won the toss, the hosts elected to field and put the visitors to bat and the decision to field spoke for itself.

At stumps on Day-1, the West Indies were almost finished and were at 243 with none of their players back into the pavillion.

Had it not been for Chanderpaul's resilience and maginfiecnt 87, the Windies would have been fielding right on the first day of the five days test match.

SCJ Broad was the most deadly of the English bowlers, who bagged six wickets for 72 with six maiden overs. JM Anderson took two.

Friday, the Day-2 is not likely to add much to the Windies first day total and bring the hosts to bat. Would the Windies able to contain the English the same way the hosts did Thursday?

Let us watch the match today, that commences 10:00 GMT

Australia for the jugular against the West Indies in Third and final Test - watch live online

As the third test between Australia and West Indies is hours away, Australia coach Mickey Arthur has been quoted as vowing that his team will go for the jugular against the West Indies in the third and final Test even if their full throttle assault backfires.

Well that is really a tall claim after the tourists won the first test with the second as a draw. But keeping in view the form of the tourists, the claim sounds maintainable - and a challenge to the hosts to prove the claim otherwise.

"I'd rather lose a Test match trying to win it than just play dull cricket, because then you don't learn anything about your players," added Arthur, ahead of the final Test which starts at Windsor Park on Monday. "You want to see players stand up in pressure situations. I'd rather that we went all out to win a game rather than just let a game meander."

The third test is being played at the Windsor Park - where the last test was played between the Eastern Indians, that is India and the West Indians 10 months ago - the match ended in a draw. It remains to be seen how the test between the hosts and the tourists go - whould australia really get the hosts jugular?

The opposing teams are as under:
West Indies: DJG Sammy*, AB Barath, CS Baugh†, KC Brathwaite, DM Bravo, S Chanderpaul, N Deonarine, FH Edwards, AB Fudadin, KOA Powell, R Rampaul, KAJ Roach, S Shillingford

Australia: MJ Clarke*, SR Watson, MA Beer, EJM Cowan, PJ Forrest, RJ Harris, BW Hilfenhaus, MEK Hussey, NM Lyon, PM Nevill†, JL Pattinson, RT Ponting, PM Siddle, MA Starc, MS Wade†, DA Warner

Match scheduled to begin at 10:00 local time |14:00 GMT at Windsor Park, 23 - 27 April 2012

Australia vs West Indies: 2nd Test 15-19 April 2012

The landscape for the 2nd test match between the tourists from Australia and the hosts Windies changes to Queen's Park Oval, Trinidad, which gets into play from Sunday 15th April till 19th April 2012 - or may be earlier!!

The tourists showed a remarkable recovery after the hosts put up a formidable target of 449 in the first innings of the first test and then had the courage, resilience and strength to win over an otherwise draw or a lost match.

Today, the hosts have a bigger target infront of them than they had in the first test - they HAVE TO WIN, lest they want to be subdued and humiliated in their own home. The tourists have already routed India when the latter visited Australia recently, and even won the TriNation championship against Sri Lanka after osuting India from it. This has raised their morale manifold and are in a charging mood as they exhibited in the first test and the foresight and decisive ability.

Australian Coach Mickey Arthur on Clarke's declaration decisons said:
"I thought it was a great idea and I sort of just backed him on it - Micheal needs ro all the plaudits fr that becasue it was a brave desicion that worked out for us."
With this let us turn to the 2nsd test that goes underway some hours from now.

Australi played at the Queen's Park oval nine years ago and of the squad only Ponting remains in the team to revisit the same grass again. The tourists could not practice much on the ground as rains came and training was abandoned. But the hosts were lucky to have cmpleted their training before water poured from the skies.

Australia is considering employing to specialist spinners: Nathan Lyon and Beer could be these two. As for the Windies, they would have loved to have Sunil Narine, who hails from the Queens's Park, but his committment with IPL leaves the Widnies abandoned and handicapped. Now instead they would have Shane Shillingford, who last played test cricket in 2010.

The likely opposing teams are:
Australia: 1 Ed Cowan, 2 David Warner, 3 Shane Watson (vice-captain), 4 Ricky Ponting, 5 Michael Clarke (captain), 6 Michael Hussey, 7 Matthew Wade (wicket-keeper), 8 Peter Siddle, 9 Ryan Harris, 10 Ben Hilfenhaus, 11 Nathan Lyon/Michael Beer

West Indies: 1 Adrian Barath, 2 Kraigg Brathwaite, 3 Kirk Edwards (vice-captain), 4 Darren Bravo, 5 Shivnarine Chanderpaul , 6  Narsingh Deonarine, 7 Carlton Baugh (wicket-keeper), 8 Darren Sammy (captain), 9 Kemar Roach, 10 Fidel Edwards, 11 Devendra Bishoo/ Shane Shillingford

Venue: Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad
Scheduled time: 10:00 Local | 14:00 GMT
