Djokovic beat Federer to be the 2019 Wimbledon Champion

Novak Djokovic raises the winner’s trophy.
What a day it was at London today where two finals were being played: The ICC World Cup 2019 Cricket between England and New Zealand, and the Center Court of the Wimbledon where the men's single final between two tennis giants was paled between second seeded Roger Federer and defending champion Novak Djokoivc. The last time both met was at Wimbledon 2014 when Djokovic beat Federer in the final. Federer won the 2017 Wimbledon beating Marin Čilić of Croatia.

I was divided between the two finals but was more focused on the Wimbledon to know whether Federer, the aging yet extremely in shape Spaniard wins his 9th Wimbledon title or not. The first set was contested very hard and the Serbian finally managed a hard earned 7(7) - 6(5) win. But Federer fought back and had a easy 6-1 win.

And from then on it was game of guts, stamina and fitness. None seemed to be giving in till the end. But it had to come to an end in favour of the defending champion who finally won over Federer 7(7)-6(5), 1-6, 7(7)-6(4), 4-6, 13(7)-12(3).

What a final it was and both players need commendation for providing so much thrill and world class match to the spectators all over the world.

Halep demolishes Serena Williams to be 2019 Wimbledon Lady

It was a great day for Simona Halep who completely demolished American Serena Williams in straight sets to lift the coveted Venus Rosewater Dish today at the Center Court.

Halep beat Williams 6-2, 6-2, completely outscoring and outsmarting and even surprising her of her might.

Losing the first set 6-2, Williams seemed to be coming back at score 2-2, but then Halep didn't let her win a game.

It was Halep's first Wimbledon title and first for a Romanian and it just took here less than hour, 56 minutes to be exact. She is also the first Romanian to win a Wimbledon title, though Ilie Nastase of Romania made to the final in 1972 and 76.

Now it remains to be seen whether aging yet extremely fit Roger Federer makes a come back as Wimbledon champion on Sunday or

New Zealand beat India to reach the ICC World Cup 2019 Finals

It was a great semi final of ICC World Cup 2019 today between India and New Zealand today. The Indians may have never thought of exiting from the tournament at the hands of the Kiwis - but the latter superbly did it to be the finalists.

Giving a target of 240 for the Indians to win the match, the Kiwis struck very early in the match and three top batsmen were shown the pavilion for mere six runs. And the fourth wicket fell at 37.  New Zealand could have scooped up another important wicket in the 13th over, when Neesham dropped a catch at mid wicket that would have dismissed Rishabh Pant.

Thereafter the Indians seem to have taken a stand, but the Kiwis were not giving in and kept the pressure. Jadeja from India placed himself firmly but he too was sent home at 77. Dhoni paid for his dirty trick by deliberately allowing England to win and keep Pakistan out and was too had to see way back at the critical stage of the match.

Thereafter, it was just minutes before the final Indian crumble who were all out with 18 runs to chase.

So well done Kiwis - now win your maiden World Cup !!

England and Australia meet in the second semifinal at Edgbaston on Thursday. The final is at Lord's on Sunday.

The Wimbledon is attracting its traditional spectators to its tennis courts while cricket lovers are waiting for the out come of the first semi final of ICC World Cup 2019 between New Zealand and India which has been suspended by rain since yesterday.

As for the tennis lovers, all seems to be going well as main starts are still in the arena. Today top seeded Djokovic is facing 21 seeded Goffin while 2nd seed Federer facing 8th seeded Nishikori on the Centre Court.

On Court 1, 3rd seeded Nadal will take on S Querrey of USA while 23rd seed Agut will face 26th seed Pella.

Pakistan: Your Travel Destination 2019 - Come and Listen to the Rich Folk Music of Pakistan

Pakistan is not only rich in its natural trove, but has an equally rich culture and folk music that mystifies the listeners and spellbound them for as long as there is music in the air. We have indigenous music instruments like dhol ( a two sided elongated drum) which have rich sound not only to move the folk artists and the audience, but also make the horses and camels dance with its heavy beat.

The folklore are artistically converted into music which are often sung in villages when the sun has set and moonlight adds mystery to the music being played and the voices of folk singers adding to the mysticism. Each place and province has its own music, its own heroes to eulogize and love stories retold. Some of the famous folk songs include "Abeeti" (a love song sung by young women), "Allah Hoo" (a Muslim lullaby) and "Ashoor Jan" (a patriotic love song). Badala (or Sandara) is a historically significant form of Pashto folk music that focuses on local romance, epics, folktales, fables, local heroes and historical events. Badala also includes Pashto translations of epics and romance from Arabic and Persian. There are many talented names who are living this music genre.

Besides, Jugni, Sammi, Luddi are some of the tunes which make people move and dance on the rhythmic tunes. In fact it is the rhythm of music which unifies Pakistan and music spills away from the bounds of one province or a place to the other and everyone seems to be singing and laughing together.

Sometimes back, a beautiful musical composition was composed that very comprehensively combines music of all provinces of Pakistan - a composition which has since been my favourite. But this is just the bird's eye view of the otherwise very rich folk music of Pakistan, which must be listened live. Even if one doesn't understand the lyrics, the rich music played on indigenous instruments mesmerizes the listener.

Watch the video below which is blend of rich drumbeat enriched by the musical instruments that compels the dancers to dance and dance on the rhythm of folk tunes - that is why this is my favourites!!
Do come to Pakistan and be part of our rich cultural heritage and folk music fro as long as you are with us. But once you go back, you will carry the nostalgia. Try it !!

Australian Open 2019 to be the First to feature Tie Breaks in Final Sets

Like all New Years, this New Year too starts with the big bang of the four Grand Slams that are played each year. Yes I am talking of the first of the Grand Slams that has just gone underway in Melbourne, Australia on 14th January. Te matches will continue till 27th January when the men's single final will be played. The winner will get a cash prise of A$4,100,000.

A galaxy of elite tennis stars including the defending champion Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and M Raonic. The women contesters include Serena Williams, the aging yet still dashing star from USA, besides Venus Williams, Miss Keys, Halep, Sevastova and many more.

This will be the first Australian Open to feature final set tie-breaks, which will be introduced in all match formats. If the match reaches 6–6 in the final set, the first player to score 10 points and be leading by at least 2 points wins the match.

Also for the first time in the men's singles competition, a 10-minute break due to heat will be allowed after the third set if the Australian Open Heat Stress Scale reaches 4.0 or higher.

Presently the Round of 32  is in progress with the only setback, a major setback, in which  Caroline Wozniacki,  the defending women's singles champion, was unsuccessful in her defense, losing in the third round to Maria Sharapova yesterday.
