Federer and Serena Conquer Blue Clay of Madrid

What a day it was at Madrid Sunday - two ladies and two gentlemen stepped on the blue clay of Madrid for a memorable day in Tennis.

Jubilant Serena Williams - WTA Madrid Champion 2012
It was 9th ranked Serena Williams who faced the World No.1 Victoria Azarenka to win the crown for herself. And at the end of the match she had overpowered the World no.1 in simple straight win of 6-1, 6-3. The match just lasted four minutes past one hour. With the win, Williams took home $830,500, besides being crowned as Madrid's Queen for 2012.

The vanquished and the victorious at the blue courts of Madrid
Then came World no.3 Roger Federer for a battle with 7th ranked Tomas Berdych. And after an interesting and exciting match, Federer having lost the first set to the Czech 3-6, came back to game and won over Berdych 7-5, 7-5. The win replaces him with Nadal's No.2 ranking. Something Federer wanted more than anything at this time of the year, specially before the French Open. - a great day for the Swiss indeed.

Watch below the screen shots from the last moments of the match, when the score was 3-6, 7-5, 6-5 (40-40):

Federer finally won and conquered the blue clay of Madrid for 2012. Herein under are the screen shots from award giving ceremony and guess who was the guest from the Hollywood:

Roger Federer's wife and daughters were also there to see Federer winning. But his daughters too young seemed oblivious of their father's victory - but surely Mrs Federer was the happiest wife Sunday at Madrid.
