Nadal Eying his 10th French Open Roland Garros Title Sunday 11 June 2017

The French Open title now coming to an end with ladies single final finally ending in J. Ostapenko favour who beat S Halep today in an easy win over final. But the men's final on Sunday today will be a great final for it is French Open master and nine time winner Rafael Nadal is appearing to take his 10th record title when he meets Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland today.

Rafel Nadal who has shown his resilience despite his injuries to reach the final beating  sixth ranked D. Thiem in straight sets 6-6, 6-4 and 6-0 may carry the day against his opponent  Wawrinka whom he had a favourable record of winning 15-3. His latest win over Wawrinka was at ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Monte Carlo in 2016.

In in interview, Nadal says, "It's true that 10 is a beautiful number, but actually my favourite is nine. But sure if it becomes 10 it will be my favourite." So let us see who carries the day today. I pin my hopes on Nadal.

Are Nadal's glory days over as he exits Wimbledon 2015 race

Rafa glory days

There were times when Rafael Nadal was world number one with fourteen Grand Slam titles to his credits - and it seemed that one day he would stand tall over the rest of his contemporaries by bagging yet many more Grand Slams.

But it seems that two time Wimbledon champion's glory days are over - at least for now as he was ousted from the Wimbledon 2015 race right in the second round by a German qualifier Dustin Brown 7-5 3-6 6-4 6-4.

Presently down to number 10 in the world ranking from the top of the world just a few years back, the heavily injured Spaniard sees a bleak future for him though he vows to continue for the better days - no where in sight as of now.

He himself confesses that: "I don't know if I will be back to the level of 2008 or 2010."

With a confidence level at a much lower shade than before, many see end of Nadal's glory days. Blame his injuries which he has been suffering from for the last few years, it is sad to see a resilient and forceful player slipping and fading away much sooner than expected.

Watch Live Djokovic vs Nadal: Free Streaming ATP Rome Final

The Rome Open final between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic has been re-scheduled to Monday due to heavy rain in Rome on Sunday.

So it is final now: Nadal has already qualified for the final beating fellow countryman Ferrero.

Would Djokovic defend his title? Nadal ponders!!
Now the world no.2 and the defending champion Novak Djokovic beats world no.2 Swiss Roger Federer 6-2, 7-6(4) Saturday-Sunday night and moves to the final to defend his title, Nadal has to be very assertive and resilient if he want to dominate the Serb.

Both Nadal and Djokovic have met 31 times before Sunday's title due and Nadal has a winning edge of 17-14 over the Serb. And of 13 matches of played on clay, Nadal has won all but two which were won over by Djokovic. Nadal last won on clay against Djokovic was at Monte Carlo 2012, and last lost to Djokovic here at Rome in 2011.

In the last ten matches played by both, the Serb has lost twice at the hands of Nadal at Monte Carlo and Tipsarevic at Madrid. Nadal on the other hand has lost once at Madrid at the hands of F. Verdasco.

So while Novak Djokovic will try to defend his title Sunday, Nadal would try to avenge the Blues of the blue clay of Madrid.

The final of Internazionali BNL d'Italia - Rome, Italy was scheduled for Sunday 20th May at 14:00 GMT, however due to rain at Rome Sunday afternoon, the match has now been re-scheduled for Monday, 21 May at 10:00 GMT
