The Pakistan-Indian duo lift Gerry Weber Doubles Trophy

Top seeds Pakistani ace tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna were all smiles and joy to have won their first ATP title of the season, overpowering the Dutch-Canadian combination Robin Haase and Milos Raonic 7-6 (8), 3-6, 11-9 in the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany on Sunday, 12 June 2011. The match continued for an hour and 19 minutes.

Although, the Pakistan-Indian pair faulted on many occasions and failed to convert any of the four breakpoints, three in the opening set. They also dropped their serve in the second set but held their nerves in the Super Tie break to clinch the coveted trophy.

“I’m really happy that we won our last two matches in a Match Tie-break; it’s going to make us mentally tougher and believe in ourselves even more,” a jubilant and smiling Aisam-ul- Qureshi said after the match. ”We’re just looking forward to the rest of the year; our goal is to win a Grand Slam title and to qualify for the Barclays World Tour Finals, and this is one step forward.”

This important win will definately have a plus point when the 6th ranked duo plays in the coming wimbledon Championship.
